Callers Clinic

During the discussion of the minutes, Estella clarified what had been discussed at our January meeting.

The sale of clothes had gotten out of hand, and had taken too much of the dance time, thereby not allowing those who tend the sale to be involved in the dance as they wished. At our present location we do not have enough room for such a sale unless we rent another room. Also concerning visitors from clubs to our meetings, we should have a program for them when they come. It was decided that visitors should be encouraged to bring questions and concerns to our meetings, and may participate in the dancing sections of the meeting.

Tom moved acceptance of the minutes, seconded by Nick. Carried.

Dan gave the financial report and moved its acceptance, seconded by Tom. carried.

Ed walked us through and cued the ROM in Dan Roy’s absence.

Bad weather gave the SWOSDA dance in Feb a bad attendance.

Summer dances will be run by Tom, workshopping mainstream and some plus teach.

He will run it for 10 weeks at Richard's Memorial after May 24 weekend

He will need a few fill-ins for when he can't make it.

Probably on Tuesdays. $10 cpl, dress casual.

Nov 18/12 with Colin doing a workshop. Jan 13/13, Mar 10/13.

2013 Frosh dances will be held:

Jan19, Feb 16, March 16 at Richard’s Memorial Church.

Callers’ Clinic was wondering if the cuers would like to hold meetings on the off months when the Callers’ Clinic are not meeting?

Tom moved, seconded by Colin, that an email be sent to cuers (and callers who cue at dances) and tentatively book hall for Oct 14th 2012. Carried.

Dan workshopped some combo moves. He will send them out for others to use.

Colin Aram volunteered to step into the Chair.

Blanche was asked if she could carry on preparing the snack.

Tom reported on the Trillium funds. There is $5455.13 left. Linda contacted the Trillium Foundation asking what to do with the remaining funds. They requested us to keep it and use it.

We need to use these funds.

Dances are held three times a year at the beginner level. These dances are geared to new dancers, and the calling level is set to a level appropriate to the class at time of dancing.

All dancers are encouraged to come out and take part in this enriching experience.
